Anybody tried this malt? If yes did you enjoy? Im not going to spend 50, 60plus so working my way through the offers and 30pounders, was very dissapointed with the glenfiddich12.

I'm on a bit of a quest to find my favourite malt. So far old puteney is winning, closely followed by isle of jura superstition. Haven't tried this make but if you du, let me know. Cheers

I treated my Grandad to a bottle of this one Christmas, said it was alright but he had never heard of it. so he gets grouse now

can you not get a miniature to try first?

Trappa im halfway down a old pulteney 12 and yes nice, got a glenlivit 12 for saturday and englands opener but im going to chuck this into the pot, im only a year into trying single malts but my local aldi was doing glen moray for £16.99 normally £20plus and as a fairly newbie i really enjoyed it, i will try it again to see if i was right, i can get minitures but i can afford to try a 70cl, i saw talisker 10 in asda or morrisons for£25 wow nearly lol

Treecreeper hahaha bet your grandad aint happy now grouse i really dont like havnt tried the snow naked or black thow. Oh by the way johnnie walker black label wow i did enjoy that.

don't think he is fussed tbh, he must of thought it was cheap because he had never heard of it.

He was partly right it was cheaper but only because i got it from the distillery.

My dad drinks Laphroaig i reckon it tastes of tcp

Ive heard laphroaig does taste tcp , how much did you pay for glenrothes by the way? I saw it in sainsburys today for £37

I think glenfiddich and glenmorangie are a little cliche, good whiskies but have been somewhat hyped up over the years. Got to be honest, my nose and palate arent great, i try to read up on each whisky i get and see if i can taste what the masters taste but only rarely do. That said, old puteney is sooooo good, its sweet but with a really salty finish, and it only gets a half decent write up by serious reviewers........each to their own i guess.

 

A friend of mine who knows his whisky told me to warm the glass up first, it brings the flavours out. and it works.

Trappa go to you tube and put ralfystuff this chap makes me laugh but hes a honest chap who review the whiskys, i do research also before i buy, ive only made one mistake i tried a blended called black bottle, my palate didnt enjoy that one.

I cant touch the west coast stuff ...had a bottle of 15 year old Dalwhinnie while fishing yesterday ..very nice dram .

Ive got a 30 year old Glenfarclas im looking forward to opening ....if im out or just sitting in the house Glenmorangie ,Singletons or Old Puteny

Tesco do old putney at £20 a bottle for the last 2 Christmases, so I stock up. I normally have a glen moray on the shelf as well

It was 25 quid but you won't get it for that anywhere. I saw it 32 quid when I looked for minatures.
